Turtle Tours DPaW
Guided turtle interaction tours operate from the Jurabi Turtle Centre during the turtle nesting season from November to February, providing visitors with an exciting opportunity to view marine turtles nesting. Tours are available by booking through the Exmouth Visitor Centre. Bookings are essential.
Exmouth and the Ningaloo Coast is one of the most important nesting areas in mainland Australia for green and loggerhead turtles. The Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) conducts evening guided turtle interaction tours from the Jurabi Turtle Centre during the height of the Ningaloo turtle nesting season (December to March) for people wanting to view nesting turtles.
DPaW turtle interaction tours are educational tours that not only provide a high chance of finding and observing nesting turtles, but also teach participants how to do so in an unobtrusive manner so as not to disturb these vitally important nesting activities. By participating in one of these very affordable guided tours, you are actively helping to conserve marine turtles and will have a better opportunity to view marine turtles nesting in their natural environment.
During your sunset tour you will be hosted by a DPaW Cape Range National Park ranger who will explain more about Ningaloo marine turtles and the environment they occupy, all the while looking for female turtles making their arduous haul out up the beach and into the sand dunes to lay their clutches of eggs.
Meet at Jurabi Turtle centre at 6:30pm for briefing & then drive in your own vehicle to a turtle rookery nearby.
