Turtle Tours - Exmouth Parks & Wildlife
Turtle Eco-Education Tours operate from the Jurabi Turtle Centre over the summer months from December to March. Tours provide visitors with an exciting opportunity to view turtles coming ashore to lay eggs in the natural environment. Tours are available by booking through the Ningaloo Visitor Centre. Bookings are essential.
The Ningaloo Coast is one of the most important coastal habitats for turtles. Here you will find turtles mating in the shallow lagoon, female turtles coming ashore to lay eggs and turtle hatchlings making their way to the ocean. The Western Australian Parks and Wildlife Service conducts evening guided turtle eco-education tours from the Jurabi Turtle Centre for people wanting to view nesting turtles. Tours operate over the summer months from December to March.
Turtle Eco-Education Tours are educational tours that not only provide a high chance of finding and observing turtles coming ashore to lay eggs, but also teach participants how to do so in an unobtrusive manner. By participating in one of these very affordable guided tours, you are actively helping to conserve marine turtle populations and will have a better opportunity to view turtle nesting activities in the natural environment.
During the tour you will be guided by staff who will explain more about Ningaloo marine turtles and the environment they occupy, all the while looking for female turtles making the arduous haul up the beach and into the sand dunes to lay eggs.
Meet at Jurabi Turtle Centre at 6:30pm for briefing & then drive in your own vehicle to a beach nearby.
